Welcome to Filoxenia Cozy

Built in the traditional style of the area, Filoxenia has been true to its name (hospitality in Greek) for the last 25 years. Conveniently situated in a peaceful area, off the busy community center of the township of Lindos, this guesthouse is reachable through Entrance B to the settlement, within walking distance from the picturesque St. Paul?s Bay. The charm of the traditional township, featuring an mesmerizing maze of whitewashed streets, mosaic-covered, flowery yards, the proud mansions of shipping magnates of the past and with the Citadel proudly crowning the rocky mass dominating Lindos, have inspired and oriented the founders of this guesthouse who felt they had a commitment to come up with an establishment like the one presently welcoming you.

Ever close to traditional architectural concepts and folk lore, we have been careful to preserve the old pebble-made mosaic of the yard and floors throughout the premises, maintained the traditional structures meant to host mattresses (panges, i.e. beds in the local patois) and hand-made iron cast pieces of furniture and had the walls painted in such traditional colors as green, ochre and Byzantine purple, thus echoing the Byzantine and Arab influence seen all around the noble mansions of Lindos.

Within the pebbly mosaic-covered yard of our establishment, we set out several old pottery vases which we then turned into flower pots for bougainvilleas, aromatic basil and rosemary bushes. To create an original ambiance, we dared decorate the walls with antique window frames and traditional ceramic plates and even had an old wooden boat placed in a corner and filled with books for those in quest for some hounds of constructive idling and relaxation.

Today we proudly present this complex we have created with gusto and much love, a space harboring tradition and comfort in harmonious coexistence, where white meets colors, where light is flirting with the shadows, where the aroma of freshly-brewed coffee mingles with the fine scents of basil and rosemary.

Welcome!
